Thursday, the Amman Criminal Conciliation Court decided to release the three detainees in the case of the collapsed building in Al-Weibdeh area, which resulted in the death of 14 people and the injury of nine.

The court released them after their legal detention period ended. The decision came in the seventh hearing which was headed by Judge Sharaf Abu Latifa, where it was decided to release the owner of the collapsed building, the maintenance contractor and the maintenance technician.

All three are charged with 14 counts of causing death and nine counts of causing harm.

Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported that during Thursday’s hearing, the court heard testimony of a forensic doctor, bringing the number of witnesses in the case to 21, and the Public Prosecution has so far provided 31 evidence in the case.

Notably, Jordanian law prohibits the detention of any misdemeanor defendant for more than one month.

During the upcoming hearings, the court will hear the testimony of six experts in the case, including five who submitted a report explaining the reasons why the three-storey building collapsed comprising six apartments.
