Jordanian Armed Forces foil drone smuggling attempt on western border

In the ongoing efforts to safeguard Jordan’s borders using advanced technology, the Jordanian Southern Command successfully thwarted a drug smuggling attempt early Tuesday morning. The operation involved the interception of a drone attempting to cross the western border.

An official military source from the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) stated that Border Guard units in the Jordanian Southern Command, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, managed to prevent the drone from illegally crossing the border.

The source explained that the necessary rules of engagement were applied, and the drone’s payload was brought down inside Jordanian territory. The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

The JAF emphasized its ongoing commitment to using its resources and capabilities to combat such attempts that threaten national security.

This operation is part of the continuous efforts to address smuggling schemes that exploit modern technology, such as drones, to transport illegal substances.
