"Israeli" media: Netanyahu takes steps to secure approval for prisoner swap
Israel Hayom reported that "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is navigating political challenges to secure government approval for a prisoner exchange deal, despite expected opposition from some factions.
The report highlighted Netanyahu’s belief that ministers from the Religious Zionist Party, also known as Tkuma, may oppose the deal but are unlikely to withdraw from the coalition. This comes amid ongoing tensions with National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, whose actions Netanyahu struggles to manage.
Separately, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority (IBA) revealed that an "Israeli" negotiating team remains in Qatar, engaging in talks with Hamas over the proposed exchange.
Officials involved in the discussions indicated that significant disagreements persist, preventing a final agreement.
The negotiations unfold against the backdrop of political friction in Tel Aviv, as Netanyahu works to unify his government behind any potential deal with Hamas.
