Cold air mass to impact Jordan starting Thursday
Weather models indicate temperatures will remain around average on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the Kingdom will be affected by a cold air mass starting Thursday evening, with its impact intensifying on Friday. This will lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures, especially during the night – per ArabiaWeather.
Temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday
On Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures will remain close to average for this time of year. The weather will be sunny and relatively cold in the mountain highlands, mild in other areas, and moderate in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Some low clouds are expected to appear in the northern part of the Kingdom.
Winds will be moderate from the southeast, occasionally picking up, especially on Wednesday, which may stir dust and increase the feeling of cold, especially during the evening and early morning hours.
Nighttime temperatures will be cold to very cold, particularly in the eastern plains and desert areas, where temperatures may drop to near zero at the surface, especially in the desert.
Cold air mass to affect Jordan
Starting Thursday evening (December 26, 2024), the Kingdom will gradually be affected by a cold air mass coming from the eastern Mediterranean. Temperatures will decrease to around average for this time of year, and the weather will become relatively cold to cold throughout the day, with clouds at varying altitudes, especially in the desert areas.
By Friday night into Saturday, the cold air mass will intensify, leading to a significant drop in temperatures. Overnight temperatures will range from 3-5°C in Amman, with areas in the desert and the high mountains of the Sharah range nearing zero.
On Friday, the cold air mass will further deepen, lowering temperatures to about 9°C in Amman, which is below average for this time of year. Cold conditions will prevail in most areas, with moderate winds from the southwest, which will increase the feeling of chill.
