Syrian authorities arrest former Assad security chief
Syria’s Military Operations Directorate announced Friday the arrest of Brigadier General Riyad Hassan, the former head of political security in Damascus under the ousted Assad regime.
The statement provided no further details about Hassan’s arrest.
Earlier, the directorate launched a large-scale security campaign across several areas in Syria to pursue what it described as “remnants of the Assad regime.”

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Friday that the authorities in Latakia province arrested "Hayyan Mia," a suspect responsible for several major crimes against Syrians.
This arrest follows the announcement on Thursday by Syria’s Military Operations Directorate about the capture of Mohammad Kinjo Hassan, known as "The Butcher," who is responsible for field executions at the Saydnaya prison.
